Cala Lilly

Calla Lilies are one of the most unique and beautiful flowers that are ever grown. They come in various shades, hues and colours. They come in green, pink, purple, yellow and orange and are normally known as perennial bulbs. Their shape is that of a trumpet and looks good in any colour combination. They are generally found in Africa. Like every flower, they have their own significance and symbology. They symbolize magnificence and beauty. They normally grow up to 1 to 6 feet in height. They bloom throughout the year and if taken care of correctly and properly can rebloom again and again.

Their various shades also have its own symbols. White calla lilies symbolize innocence, pink symbolizes appreciation, purple passion and so on and so forth. Well for some fun-filled facts it is apparently said that calla lilies aren’t Lillies at all and it was named as a blunder. One has to be careful with Calla Lillies as they attract harmful pollen. Particular care has to be taken as the pollen builds up. Another fact of Callas is that they should be kept away from children and pets as they are known to cause diarrhoea, stomach pain, swelling of throat and tongue. So one has to be very careful with it.

Like all flowers, Callas has its own connection with mythology. The Greek Goddess Venus was so jealous of its beauty that she cursed it in order to lower its appeal. The flowers are used in arrangements in bridal bouquets and funeral arrangements.

Calla Lillies like any other bulbs are spread out and their bulbs can be further used to spread out and produce many other bulbs. These bulbs can be used to be planted indoors during winter seasons in countries where it is exceptionally cold and outdoors during spring and summer. The best part about Calla Lilies is that they are not Lillies at all. They need to be divided every few years to keep them blooming well. The best time to grow Calla Lillies is during summer and the spring season. They may grow in the full sun or even the partial sun say like they are kept in the shade. Calla Lillies grow best in an organically rich, moist and rich environment.

So Calla Lillies were one of the lesser-known flowers and the endeavour of this post was to cover lesser-known flowers around the world.
