And the floral brief for it is unusual: most of the year people want flowers to look alive and bright, and for one week in October they want the opposite.

What are the best Halloween flowers in Dubai?
Five flowers that carry a dark palette, and what each one brings.
- Deep red and burgundy roses — mystery and intensity. The closest thing to a black flower you can actually buy fresh, and the backbone of almost every dark arrangement. See the next section on what “black roses” really means.
- Purple and plum roses — drama without going funereal. Purple reads as theatrical rather than grim, which suits a party better than true black would.
- Dark calla lilies — sculptural and severe. The shape does the work; a few deep calla stems look more deliberate than a dense bouquet.
- Anthurium — glossy, waxy and slightly strange, which is exactly the register. It also lasts up to four weeks, far longer than anything else here.
- Dried and preserved elements — seed heads, bleached or dyed branches, preserved roses. These carry the texture that a fresh arrangement cannot, and in an air-conditioned UAE room they outlast everything.
Worth saying plainly: there are no orange or black products in our standard range, so a Halloween arrangement here is built from deep purples and crimsons rather than the orange-and-black palette you might picture. What black roses really are (and how to get one)
This is the question behind most searches for Halloween flowers, so it is worth answering properly.
No rose is truly black. Not in nature, and not in a greenhouse. Every rose sold as black is either a very deep red or dark purple variety that reads as black in low light, or a pale rose that has been dyed.

If you want an actually black rose
Then you want a tinted or preserved one, not a fresh variety. There are three ways it is done commercially: tinting by absorption, where cut stems stand in a dye solution and draw the colour up; airbrushing or painting the petals directly, which gives more control over the finish; and preserved roses, where the water in the rose is replaced with a glycerin-based solution and the rose is then dyed — including jet black.
